It is useful to occasionally change the passwords on your e-mail accounts to maximize your e-mail security. You should always change your password if you think someone else has access to your account.
Note: Make sure that you change the password in your offline e-mail application as well, or you will not be able to upload or download e-mail to this account.
To change the password of an e-mail account:
- Login to CPanel - www.yourdomainname.com.au/cpanel
- Enter your correct username and password
- Click on the Add/Remove Accounts link in the Mail area.
- Click on the Change Password button next to the required e-mail address.
- Enter the new password in the New Password field.
- Click on the Change button. Your password has now been changed for that account.
Manual Settings are as follows (to be configured in your email client - ie Microsoft Outlook):
- POP3 Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomainname.com.au
- SMTP Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomainname.com.au
- Account name/user name: username@yourdomainname.com.au - Note: substitute the username with the email account name ie johnsmith@abc.com.au
- Password: As selected in above steps
- Outgoing mail server requires authentication MUST be selected (same username and password as above).
Occasionally you will find that you are not able to SEND emails. This is a problem if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has blocked Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Port 25, which is used by our server to send email. If you find this problem then you will need to contact your ISP to either:
- Have Port 25 unblocked, or
- To setup your email client to SEND mail via your ISP(ie modify SMTP settings. Incoming mail server settings should not be modified)
